The inspiration for this panel is taken from a gesso panel typical of those designed by Margaret, entitled The Sleeping Princess. The original of this one was incorporated over a fireplace in the drawing room of The Hill House in Helensburgh, in the west of Scotland, the house that her husband designed in 1902 as a family residence for the publisher Walter W. Blackie. The original panel can still be seen, as the house has been in the care of the National Trust for Scotland since 1982.

These panels will be produced in a limited edition of 250. An artist in her own right, Margaret Macdonald, was responsible for many of the decorative panels and other features of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's interiors. They met while at Glasgow School of Art. Together with her sister Frances, and his friend Herbert MacNair, they became known as The Four, leaders in the Glasgow Style of Art Nouveau. Forecast Sculptures' panels, although inspired by the originals of Margaret Macdonald, are not replicas. To suit today's home environment, they have been reduced in size by up to 50%, therefore some detail has been simplified to keep the impression of the originals.
